"Stewardship" is the Christian's way of responding to God's great love for us in His Son, Jesus Christ. God gave us His very best when He sent Jesus. He gave us His most precious gift so that we would know His great love for us. We are "Stewards" or "Caretakers" of all that we have, all of which comes from God.
"Stewards living a God-pleasing life understand all they are and have are theirs by the grace of God. It is only through God's love and goodness that we have life and a beautiful world in which to live our lives. In spite of our sinful and wayward ways, God provides for us and loves us unconditionally. "But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)." (From Ronald and Phyllis Chewing's "Stewards Living A God-Pleasing Life" available from: http://www.stewardshipadvisors.org/index.php)
"As stewards, we have both a privilege and a responsibility to manage all that God entrusts to us. As new people in Christ, we no longer live for ourselves. Having been forgiven and redeemed by our gracious God, we now live to do His will and fulfill His purposes for our lives. Because of what God has done for us through Christ, we live with new perspectives an priorities. By God's grace, we are equipped and empowered to be faithful stewards. God uses ordinary people like us to do extraordinary things." (From Ronald and Phyllis Chewing's "New Members Growing As Stewards" available from: http://www.stewardshipadvisors.org/index.php)
At St. Paul, we respond to God's great love to us by giving our time, treasures, and talents in service to God and to others. By giving our tithes, firstfruits, offerings; by using our God-given talents and abilities in service; and by using the gift of time in service to others; we support and participate in God's mission!
